The main aim:

The course’s main aim is to foster the knowledge of the students in the field of civil service in EU, going from the presumption that their professional background should be sustained by a strong correlation between the national organization and functionality of public administration system and at the European level. Our students could apply for a position in EU institutions, and, in this regard, they should have a deepen knowledge on the issue. The students will engage in a real-life case-study analysis in which they will practice their knowledge on EU civil service discipline. They will identify the conditions to access into European civil service and how to manage their European career. The student’s will demonstrates the abilities to transfer their skills across multidisciplinary perspective. (see course syllabus HERE)

The main outcomes:

• To gain a deep understanding on EU civil service and to achieve knowledge on civil services at European level, the conditions of accession in EU bodies, the career on EU institutions and at the national level, the role and importance of European judicial court.
• To foster the skills of students to gain the competitive advantage on their professional life.
• To achieve knowledge on EU bodies, on EU civil service and national public administration, on civil servants’ status and their rights and duties, the ethical issues, the career, and its EU dimensions.

Public performance concerns citizen’s satisfaction and organizational and individual effectiveness and efficiency. Public performance will be study at national, regional, and European levels. This course aims to familiarize students with the state-of-art of performance in public administration, especially in EU member states and the EU integration dimension on PA. The students will develop their academic competencies necessary to pursue a future career in public sector, at national, regional, or European levels. Students will be able to translate their knowledge from fundamental and applied research in their final study of their own choice. (see course syllabus HERE)

The course proposes to enrich the strategic thinking of the students through the important topic: strategic management in terms of concepts, theoretical schools, processes, and planning of activities, exploring the role of different players and incorporate theory and practice. Students will benefit by substantial study-cases, cross-societal discussion of practices, reforms in EU public administrations, teamwork projects to gain skills and abilities. The students will learn not only about the strategic management and developments in EU, also, increase the strategic capabilities for modernize the public governance in EU member states. The course aims to familiarize students with the tools, from economic and politic points of view, for understanding the functioning of public administrations in terms of EU policies adopted and the determination of those and their impact at national and European level. The students will understand and use the knowledge about formulation and location of policy agenda, which are the main actors implied, what are the results in terms of outcomes for the citizens, for the stakeholders and for the creators of policies. The students will gain expertise in analysing different national and European public policies adopted by the European institutions or national governments and will be able to formulate critics and to express their opinion about the issues. Many examples will be offered and discussed concerning the financial and monetary sectors, social problems in EU, policy of young, environmental issues and the impact at the public policies in EU member states.
